Knives in this W-version are 5% softer in comparison to the X-option and have a lower susceptibility to impurities. This spare part is made out of alloyed tool steel, which makes it applicable for demanding application areas. However this variation has a shorter longevity.

Items of this variant are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains the same from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its life span.

It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of spare parts of this variation, as the structure will otherwise be severely impaired. Therefore, breakage and machine damage may occur.
