By contrast, the W9-variation wears more quickly than the X-version due to its lower hardness. Also the insensitivity to impurities and the high toughness of the W9-variant is a notable feature compared to the X-option.

Products of this variant are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains consistent from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is even in relation to its tool life.

Hardfacing or welding on this option should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be acutely weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.
