The wear behaviour and thus also the longevity can be influenced by the material and the cutting geometry. This means that the performance can be well customised to the application area.

This alloyed tool steel is 5 % softer than the X-version and is therefore less susceptible to fractures. This makes this W-option applicable for utilizations where impurities are present in the input. In return, however, this variation has a shorter service life.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a persistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures uniform wear over the tool life of the cutter.

However, this variant must not be armoured or welded on, as it negatively influences the structure of the items. Consequently, fractures and machine damage are possible.
