Due to the through-hardening process, there is a persistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures uniform wear over the tool life of the deflector wedge.

Hardfacing or welding on this variation should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be acutely weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.

Fastening in the machine:

When attaching the deflector wedge, please assure that it is only fitted to knife holders or knife crossbars with an undamaged contact surface in order to prevent breakage.
