Cutting performance and durability:

The cutting shape and the material used for constructing have a considerable influence on the resistance and lifetime of the product.

In the Y-variant, this cutting tool is made of alloyed tool steel. The knife in this variation is approx. 5% harder than the X-version, which results in a longer durability. However, the texture is also more brittle. Due to that it can be more fragile if there is a high level of impurities.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a persistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures homogenous wear over the lifetime of the knife.

We highlight that this option should not be armoured or welded on. This has a negative effect on the material structure of the knife, which can subsequently lead to breakage and machine damage.

Fastening in the machine:

It is imperative that the knife is only installed to knife holders or knife crossbars with ideal supports, as otherwise the attachment may cause breakage.
