This combines both toughness and wear insensitivity in a balanced ratio.

In this variant, the spare parts are hardened from the edge layer to the core. This means that the knife wears homogenously over its lifespan.

It is imperative to avoid the welding on or hardfacing of cutting tools of this option, as the structure will otherwise be fundamentally impaired. Therefore, breakage and machine damage may occur.
