The wear behaviour and thus also the lifetime of the product can be impacted by the material and the cutting geometry. This means that the performance can be well customised to the application scenario.

This alloyed tool steel is 5 % softer than the X-variation and is therefore less sensitive to fractures. This makes this W-version fitting for applications where impurities are present in the input. In return, however, this option has a shorter tool life.

Spare parts of this variant are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains the same from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is even in relation to its life span.

Hardfacing or welding on this variant should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be severely weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.

Its cutting edge is inclined at 80°.
