Through the use of various materials and the variance in the cutting shape, the component can be customised to the break down application in terms of throughput and knife life.

Knives in this W-version are 5% softer in comparison to the X-variant and have a lower susceptibility to impurities. The spare part is produced out of alloyed tool steel, which makes it ideal for demanding application areas. However this option has a shorter longevity.

Cutting tools of this variation are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains the same from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its life cycle.

Hardfacing or welding on this variation should be avoided, as the structure will otherwise be fundamentally weakened. This can lead to breakages and machine damage.
