The wear and tear behaviour and thus also the knife life can be impacted by the material and the shape. This means that the efficiency can be well adjusted to the application scenario.

In the Y-variation, this item is made of alloyed tool steel. The rotor knife in this variant is approx. 5% harder than the X-version, which results in a longer operating time. However, the texture is also more brittle. Due to that it can be more fragile if there is a high level of impurities.

Products of this option are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains consistent from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is homogenous in relation to its tool life.

We underline that this variation should not be armoured or welded on. This has a negative impact on the material structure of the rotor knife, which can subsequently lead to breakage and machine damage.

Fastening in the machine:

It is imperative that the rotor knife is only affixed to knife holders or knife crossbars with ideal supports, as otherwise the attachment may cause breakage.
