The component presented is made of tool steel in the X-variant, which is our standard option for most areas of application. The hardness of this rotor knife is in the medium range.

Here you are offered a good compromise between insensitivity to wear and toughness.

Components of this variation are hardened throughout, which means that this hardness remains consistent from the edge to the core. Due to that the wear is even in relation to its life span.

However, this version must not be armoured or welded on, as it negatively influences the structure of the items. Subsequently, fractures and machine damage are possible.

Fastening in the machine:

When installing the rotor knife, please assure that it is only adapted to knife holders or knife crossbars with a flat contact surface in order to prevent breakage.

Its cutting edge is inclined at 55°.
