The cutting tool presented is made of tool steel in the X-variation, which is our standard version for most operational scenarios. The hardness of this rotor knife is in the medium range.

Here you are offered a good compromise between insensitivity to wear and toughness.

Due to the through-hardening process, there is a persistent hardness from the edge layer to the core. This ensures consistent wear over the lifetime of the rotor knife.

However, this option must not be armoured or welded on, as it negatively influences the structure of the cutting tools. Consequently, fractures and machine damage are possible.
